    Goals / Remit

    Promotion of policies and public support leading to the discovery and adoption of innovative medicines in Ireland and Europe.

    Main EU files targeted

    The main focus of IPHA activities is targeted at pharmaceutical legislation and policies. The object of our current activities are all the matters contained in the Commission's proposed Pharmaceutical Strategy for the EU, in particular legislative proposals which arise from it, including:
    - the revision of the General Pharmaceutical Legislation
    - the revision of the Orphan Medicines Regulation
    - the revision of the Regulation of Medicinal Products for Paediatric use.

    The activities have so far included meetings and briefings with members of the European Commission or their staff, MEPs, and Irish Government members and officials who would be involved in proceedings of the Council of Ministers.
