    Goals / Remit

Prlekija development agency giz (PRA giz) has been operating since 1998. It was founded with the aim of promoting the development of small business, tourism and rural development in the area of Prlekija (the north-eastern part of Slovenia). During the period of its operation, PRA giz has implemented a number of development projects and thus significantly contributed to more effective co-financing of local development with the help of European funds.

PRA giz activities cover four basic areas:
    • promoting the development of tourism and small business in the area of Prlekija,
    • rural development,
    • environmental protection and
    • cross-border cooperation.
Past references are most abundant in the area of promoting the development of tourism products in support of rural development and in the implementation of European cross-border cooperation programs.

LEAD PARTNER OF LOCAL ACTION GROUP PRLEKIJA
At the inaugural general assembly of the local action group (LAG) Prlekija at the end of October 2015, the PRA giz was unanimously selected as the lead partner LAG Prlekija for the programming period 2014-2020, after it has already been performing the duties of the LAS Prlekija operator during the previous programming period. For its successful work, LAG Prlekija was selected twice (in 2012 and 2013) as one of the five most successful LAGs in Slovenia and for that received additional funding to carry out additional projects.
PRA giz has developed the Local development strategy of LAG Prlekija for the 2014-2020 programming period and in January 2016 submitted the application on the Public call for the selection of local action groups under the CLLD (Community Led Local Development) program. We expect that in October 2016 LAG Prlekija will receive the approval from the responsible ministries to start implementing the Local development strategy and that in autumn of 2016, we, as the lead partner LAG Prlekija, will publish the first LAG Prlekija Public call for the submission of projects for local development. The planned volume of European funds for the implementation of the CLLD program in LAG Prlekija is around 2.5 mil. EUR.
