The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) is the world’s oldest and the UK’s leading defence and security think tank. Our mission is to inform, influence and enhance public debate to help build a safer and more stable world.

    Main EU files targeted

RUSI is a think tank that aims to facilitate forward thinking, free discussion and careful reflection on defence and security matters. Throughout our long history, we have built a reputation as a trusted authority. We promote knowledge and scholarship valued by RUSI members and the public at large through the Institute’s research programmes, events and publications.
RUSI UK seeks opportunities to leverage its evidence-based research capacities to inform policy-making at the EU institutions. RUSI UK is focused on the following EU policy areas: defence, security, foreign policy, illicit finance, and sanctions implementation.

    Communication activities

Many of RUSI UK’s research projects often include provisions in their terms of reference regarding communications on a project level. RUSI UK amplifies the communications on the projects through its own website and social media channels. Through RUSI UK’s events and networks, we are able to bring together the leaders, practitioners and experts at the heart of global security. RUSI’s convening power is strengthened by the location of its headquarters in Whitehall in the heart of London. The historic building houses its researchers and library and is used for conferences and meetings. RUSI UK is recognised as one of the top global think tanks on security, and in 2020 it was named ‘Think Tank of the Year’ by Prospect magazine.
