Communication activities
Project "Because Alcohol is not Milk - advocacy in the field of alcohol policy"
Project "Because Alcohol is not Milk - advocacy in the field of alcohol policy" has been accepted for financing by the Active Citizens Fund, starting in September 2020 and finishing in the end of August 2022. Since the acceptance of the project we have employed a half-time Secretary General, who will take care of the administration of the organization and the project (including new projects that will come in the future). We have organized 2 meetings of project partners for project planning, however the activities are starting in the year 2021.
NCDA Comprehensive and cohesive NCD advocacy and communications strategies towards resilience and recovery (Solidarity Fund on NCDs and COVID-19 2021)
The project, financed by the NCD Alliance, focused on building up better after the COVID-19. It also highlighted the NCD-related issues that were pushed into the background due to the pandemic and raised the voices of people living with NCDs.
NCDA Capacity Development grant (Solidarity Fund 2020)
The project, financed by the NCD Alliance, was focusing on strengthening the newly formed Slovenian NCD Alliance, including its first steps and processes to be achieved in order for the Alliance to properly function. The project allowed to carry out the first Strategic planning, the first General Assembly, the first comprehensive consultation among the most important stakeholders on non-communicable diseases in Slovenia that resulted in a new Strategic plan, creating of the Corporate Identity, new website and other smaller products that will be presented in the next paragraphs.
Mainly the project helped SNCDA to understand and advance its agenda on the field of communications, advocacy, capacity building and support for its members and other relevant NCD stakeholders in Slovenia. Most importantly (although intangible) it helped bring closer the five most important civil society players on the field of NCDs in Slovenia – the five biggest networks on health – Network 25x25 on Cardiovascular Diseases, the NGOs Protect our Health Network, the Partnership for Environment and Health, the For the Health of Youth Network and the Prevention Platform. After the project we see the Slovenian NCD Alliance as a strong driver for future connections and joint work and no longer a competitor as some NGOs members of the five alliances saw it.
2020 Sharjah Awards for Excellence in NCD Civil Society Action
As recipients of 2020 Sharjah Award in February 2020 we have received a small grant for our advocacy activities which were have allocated it to support the implementation of the Mystery Shopping project carried out by Youth Network No Excuse Slovenia. By offering field evidence of unlawful sales of tobacco and alcohol products to minors, this project aimed to advocate for better implementation of the Slovenian Tobacco Law and Alcohol Law, which was executed at a press conference covered by over 20 media reports.Other activities
