    Goals / Remit

    Art. 4
The essential mission of the Association is to act as a catalyst of the concepts of sustainable development in Europe, at all levels, public as well as private.

    Main EU files targeted

    COREU aims at:

Identifying the most crucial sustainability problems facing European society; to analyse them in the global context and to reflect on alternative future solutions for a sustainable European society, including the elaboration of specific scenarios for the future of the European continent.

Initiating and facilitating research and projects related to the above mentioned objective; a major theme will be the development of ground-breaking concepts for globally sustainable development and for the specific contributions that Europe can make.

Organising a societal discourse on the implementation of European policies for sustainable development in a global context, involving key public authorities and private sector decision-makers as well as the public at large.

The activities of the Association are framed within three complementary principles embedded in the promotion of the objectives of the Club of Rome in the context of European society:

    • A global perspective in the analysis of the problems, recognising the increasing inter-dependence of nations and regions in the globalisation process which can generate dangerous situations, transcending the individual European countries.

A holistic approach, seeking a deeper understanding of complex contemporary problems – political, social, economic, technological, psychological, cultural and environmental – defined by the Club of Rome as the “world problématique”.

An inter-disciplinary and long-term perspective, focused on the choices and policies determining the destiny of future generations, since the perspective is too often neglected by governments and other decision makers because of short term interests.

The Association is independent from any particular political, ideological or private business interest.
