    Goals / Remit

The Smoke Free Partnership (SFP) was created in 2006.

The Smoke Free Partnership is a large European coalition of NGOs that works on EU policy analysis and advocacy, mobilising decision makers to make tobacco control a political priority. SFP Main partners are the Belgian Foundation Against Cancer, Cancer Research UK, the European Heart Network, the Health Funds for a Smokefree Netherlands, le Comité National contre le Tabagisme and the Norwegian Cancer Society. The SFP Coalition includes almost 60 organisations from all over Europe.

SFP recognises that the tobacco pandemic is nurtured by a global industry which transcends national boundaries and goes beyond the European arena. Thus, SFP is working with policy makers at EU level to ensure that tobacco control receives adequate political attention and increasing resources at global level.

    Main EU files targeted

SFP follows all EU initiatives, policies and legislative files concerning the full and proper implementation of the WHO FCTC including taxation, international trade, illicit trade, product regulation and smokefree environments.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
