    Goals / Remit

The World Coal Association is the global network for the coal industry. Formed of major international coal producers and allied companies and associations, it works to demonstrate and gain acceptance for the fundamental role coal and low emission coal technologies play in achieving a sustainable, low carbon energy future.

    Main EU files targeted

Within the context of the EU the WCA advocates for the role of high efficiency low emission coal-fired power generation and carbon capture and storage technology in reducing emissions from coal-fired power generation. In this respect the WCA follows policy developments on energy, climate change and sustainable development. At present we do not follow any specific legislative files.

    Communication activities

The WCA has proposed a Platform for Coal Efficiency (PACE) that seeks to support the deployment of high efficiency low emission coal-fired power generation, principally in developing and emerging economies.

In line with its objectives to promote the role of coal and low emission coal technologies the WCA undertakes meetings to discuss policies supporting these objectives as well as media engagement, social media and other public relations and communication platforms.

The WCA hosts conferences and workshops to discuss with a range of experts the role of coal and cleaner coal technologies in meeting energy and climate objectives.
