Goals / Remit
The World Platinum Investment Council mission is to stimulate investor demand for physical platinum through both actionable insights and targeted development: providing investors with the information to support informed decisions regarding platinum; working with financial institutions and market participants to develop products and channels that investors need. The World Platinum Investment Council Ltd. (WPIC) is a global market authority on physical platinum investment, formed to meet the growing investor demand for objective and reliable platinum market intelligence. WPIC’s mission is to stimulate global investor demand for physical platinum through both actionable insights and targeted product development. WPIC was created in 2014 by the six leading platinum producers in South Africa: Anglo American Platinum Ltd, Aquarius Platinum Ltd, Impala Platinum Ltd, Lonmin plc, Northam Platinum Ltd and Royal Bafokeng Platinum Ltd.
The efficient functioning of platinum as an investment asset, as already achieved for gold, is not possible within the EU. This is because platinum does not receive the same tax treatment as gold. The World Platinum Investment Council believes citizens and institutions in EU member states will benefit greatly from a wider choice of investment options that include platinumMain EU files targeted

Complementary Information
The World Platinum Investment Council Ltd. (WPIC) was created in 2014 by the six leading platinum producers in South Africa which collectively supply over 72% of global platinum mined annually. The organisation staff compliment is still growing and as investment demand increases more opportunities to develop the global platinum investment market will be accessed. Successful achievement by platinum in the EU of the same tax status as gold is likely to lead to increased involvement with the EU.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.
1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
