    Goals / Remit

COTANCE, Confederation of National Association of Tanners and Dressers of the European Community, is the representative body of the European Leather Industry. It is an umbrella organisation gathering almost all leather producers associations of the EU. This network of sector specific organisations connects with over 95% of all European tanneries.
COTANCE also lends its secretariat to GERIC, the Grouping of European Leather Technology Centres, bodies that relay technical information to the leather industry.
COTANCE is furthermore the employers side of the sector’s social partners at EU level. Together with industriAll (European Trade Union), COTANCE develops a highly fruitful Social Dialogue that addresses issues in the area of social & environmental performance, health & safety, education, training and skills, etc.
COTANCE has established together with Euratex (European Textiles & Clothing Industry) and industriAll the first European Sector’s Skills Council for the Textile Clothing and Leather industry in the framework of the Commissions initiative New Skills for New Jobs. The Network of education, training and technology suppliers within the EU TCL Sector’s Skills Council counts over 500 members.
COTANCE cooperates ad hoc with the Footwear Technology Platform
