Goals / Remit
The EU Dog & Cat Alliance was created in 2014. Our members are organisations from across the EU, including veterinary organisations, organisations which are involved in the rescue/rehoming of dogs and cats and organisations which are working to protect dog and/or cat welfare. The Alliance’s main focus is on improving EU legislation in relation to dogs and cats.
We aim to:
- Lobby the European Union to introduce and improve EU legislation in relation to dogs and cats, and engage in other EU activities.
- Engage with other key EU stakeholders and collaborate wherever possible to improve the welfare of dogs and cats in the EU.
- Provide a forum for the sharing of information on dog and cat welfare issues between our members.
- Gather evidence on the dog and cat issues we work on and produce reports and briefings to support our position.
The EU Dog & Cat Alliance works on issues which are of priority to dogs and cats in the EU.Main EU files targeted
- DG SANTE funded study on the welfare of dogs and cats involved in commercial practices
- Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on veterinary medicinal products
- Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the manufacture, placing on the market and use of medicated feed and repealing Council Directive 90/167/EECAddress
