    Goals / Remit

    Our main goal is to link policy and practice in European development and international cooperation and to act as an independent broker between Europe, Africa and the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP).

    Established as an independent foundation in 1986, the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM) has a strong reputation as a non-partisan, strategic “think and do tank”. This means we:
    -Share policy analysis and information to key audiences in both Europe and the developing world. Relevant, timely and practical we are always on the pulse of international cooperation
    -Facilitate policy dialogue amongst global actors in development and international relations
    -Provide practical and tailored policy research and independent advice
    -Support capacity and institutional development for government and non-governmental organisations
    -Engage for the long-term with the policy processes and adopt a long term perspective to development

    - Knowledge production: GREAT Insights magazines, discussion papers and briefing notes, joint publications, Challenges paper, corporate publications, co-production and various presentations of the European Report on Development for the European Commission, etc.

    - EDD: Participation to numerous sessions of EDD 2016 (as well as previous editions).

    - Support to EU Presidency: For the Dutch EU Presidency, we facilitate two sessions, on Post Cotonou debate and the African Peace Facility.

    - EYD: At the end of the European Year of Development we facilitate a public debate in Stockholm, where over 140 stakeholders discuss the implementation of the new global goals.

    - Content support, facilitation and participation to numerous events and seminars: seminars on the future of the ACP-EU relations (with the Luxembourg EU Presidency, as well as with the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa); contribution to a high-level seminar on EU external policy on fragility, security and development (by the European Commission and the European Security and Defense College); presentation at an international high-level inter-parliamentary seminar on peace, security and sustainable development (organised by AWEPA and hosted by the Belgian Senate); co-organisation of a series of stakeholder consultations with EU officials, government officials, regional and private bankers, state and private sector companies and civil society representatives, in Luxembourg, Brussels, Nairobi and Dakar (Together with the European Investment Bank (EIB)); background support and participation to a big conference on the EU and global value chains (organised by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs), contribution to the Stakeholders Meeting on Extractive in the CEMAC Region (organised in Yaounde by GIZ. etc.); and many more.
