Goals / Remit
1. Fondation EurActiv PoliTech acts primarily within interest groups working with and alongside the European Institutions, this 'Community of EU actors' brings together people and organisations who shape European policies, in full or in part of their mission. These actors include:
-European institutions, at EU, national and regional levels
-Non-Governmental Organisations as well as think-tanks and foundations
-Companies and their federations
Occupations: such as consulting firms and political parties and groups
-The media.
2. 'To facilitate efficiency and transparency of the Community of European players': that is the goal of the Foundation.
3. The Foundation's specific goals include:
3a. Welcome and support for a diverse choice of quality Europan media accessible across Europe.
The Foundation helps in the development and factual information from civil society, to promote debate for the creation of a European democracy open for the common good. This communication both within the Community of European players and through these actors to the general public at the national level all in support of a smooth and efficient European demos.
3b. Training of journalists.
The Foundation provides regular training for the EurActiv Network of around 50 journalists as well as third-party journalists working for other quality media across Europe. Fondation EurActiv invites leaders of the Community of European players, using the technologies of communication and information, to involve as many stakeolders as possible in political debates and consultation processes;
3c. Media development and research in social exchange projects and electronic interactions;
The Foundation manages, administers and develops a blogging platform, which are lightly moderated, but only rarely takes policy positions, leaving readers to make up their own minds. It is also involved in developing projects for the participation of as many programmes through sharing and pooling of ideas and initiatives on the Internet.
3d. Philanthropy: helping factual information from civil society and promoting debates necessary for an open participatory democracy in Europe. This communication both within the Community through its actors to and from interest groups has the aim of supporting Europe develop transparently and efficiently.Main EU files targeted

Fondation EurActiv PoliTech has three main sources of income:
i) grants awarded by grant-making organisations, e.g. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, USA; Robert Bosch Foundation Germany and Fondation HIPPOCRENE, France.
ii) grants made by the EU institutions or other public sector organisations for communication and demonstration projects,
iii) payments (for services provided) to media organisations, notably members of the EurActiv Network.
NB apart from limited re-imbursement of services invoiced and provided, neither EurActiv.com nor any other Euractiv affiliate may receive any monies from grants given to the Fondation.
The main costs of the foundation include salaries and associated charges for employees and interns and trainees, rent, depreciation and utility charges, communications and other routine office administration expenses.

On 1st January 2011, Fondation EurActiv integrated the activities of Institut PoliTech AISBL, which included at that time three small e-participation projects funded by the EU enhancing transparency and inclusive decision-making using ICT. -
