Communication activities
The IBA Securities Law Committee has, together with law firms from the 28 EU Member States, conducted a survey in order to compare national implementation measures in those jurisdictions. As of 10 September 2019, five Member States had yet to implement the Directive, and the survey thus contains answers from a total of 23 jurisdictions in the form of a questionnaire. The survey has been prepared by the IBA Securities Law Committee on the initiative of Rikke Schiøtt Petersen, Gorrissen Federspiel, Denmark, and Tom Fagernäs, Krogerus, Finland.
Response to European Union consultation on rule of law
The IBA's Legal Policy and Research Unit submitted a reflection paper to the European Union, as part of a consultation on the rule of law. The EU asked all stakeholders for their views about existing mechanisms for strengthening compliance and dealing with rule of law breaches by Member States. The IBA's response, drafted with the assistance of the Oxford Programme on International Peace and Security, reiterates its commitment to promoting the rule of law through a variety of means.
In Brussels, the IBA co-hosted a half-day roundtable with the European Commission and the International Labour Organization on topic of workplace bullying and sexual harassment.
