Goals / Remit
The University of Eastern Finland, UEF, is one of the largest universities in Finland and among the best young universities in the world. A high scientific quality, interdisciplinarity, focus, constant renewal and strong engagement in international networks are characteristic of UEF’s research. The University of Eastern Finland, UEF, is home to approximately 15,500 students and 2,700 members of staff. UEF is a multidisciplinary university offering education in 13 different fields of study and in more than 100 major subjects. The university’s research activities are geared towards finding solutions to global challenges that affect individuals and societies. UEF’s research addressing especially aerosols, climate change and human health; cardiovascular and metabolic diseases; forests, global change and the bioeconomy; neurosciences; and borders, mobilities and cultural encounters enjoys international recognition.
