The Association is an international non-profit association with scientific purpose governed by the provisions of Title 3 of the Belgium Law of twenty-seventh of June nineteen hundred twenty-one, and its revisions, on non-profit associations, international non-profit associations and foundations.
The purpose of the Association is to enter into the PPP Contract, to execute this PPP Contract and to promote R&D in the Photonics industry in order to strengthen the Photonics industry in the European Union, to foster technology skills in Europe by attracting students and to increase the competitiveness of the European industry by providing new tools and capabilities for manufacturing in Europe.Main EU files targeted

The Photonics PPP represents a long-term commitment between the European Commission and the Photonics Stakeholders to invest in Europe with the aim of securing Europe's industrial leadership and economic growth in photonics, a highly skilled workforce, and the capability to generate new jobs that attract young people. The PPP will be the basis for a Research and
Innovation strategy and more broadly for an industrial strategy in photonics for Europe for the next 7 years.Address

Photonics21 PPP association is based on the European Technology Platform Photonics21 which has about 2500 members from industry, science and research institutes. It was found 2005 and acts on a voluntary basis of its members. One main purpose is to define and align the various partners on the Innovation and Research Topics. The Photoncis21 Association represents the private side of the Public Private Partnership with the EU Commision. The contract was signed on December 17, 2013. The official start of the PPP was January 1, 2014 with the begin of the Horizon 2020
