    Ember is the trading name for the Community Interest Company Sandbag Climate Campaign CIC.

    Ember is an independent energy think-tank that aims to accelerate the clean energy transition with data and policy.

    Our objective is accelerate the clean energy transition using data & policy.

    We use our data and analysis to:


    Support high impact, politically viable policies that accelerate the power sector transition and reduction of coal mine methane .


    Empower other organisations, including media, civil society, and business.


    Shape the global narrative.

    From 2008-2020, as Sandbag we worked to reform the EU Emissions Trading System. Now we focus globally, and using our utilities and data expertise to accelerate the international transition to clean power.

    The main body of Ember's work evolves around data analysis and report writing. Part of this process involves contacting and engaging with member state officials, Commission officials and elected Members of the European Parliament. Each year, Ember launches reports in and around the European Parliament, as well as selected Member States. Position papers and briefings related to climate policy are also distributed regularly throughout the year to EU institutions.
