    STMicroelectronics was created in 1987 by the merger of two long-established semiconductor companies, SGS Microelettronica of Italy and Thomson Semiconducteurs of France, and has been publicly traded since 1994; its shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: STM), on Euronext Paris, and on Borsa Italiana. The group has approximately 45,900 employees, 11 main manufacturing sites, advanced research and development centers in 10 countries, and sales offices all around the world. We are a global independent semiconductor company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of products, including discrete and standard commodity components, application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), full custom devices and application-specific standard products (ASSPs) for analog, digital and mixed-signal applications.
