    Who we are
The Personal Investment Management and Financial Advice Association (PIMFA) is the UK’s leading trade association for firms that provide investment management and financial advice to everyone from individuals and families to charities, pension funds, trusts and companies.

PIMFA was created in June 2017 as the outcome of the merger between the Association of Professional Financial Advisers (APFA) and the Wealth Management Association (WMA) and represents both full and associate member firms.

PIMFA’s mission is to create an optimal operating environment so that our member firms can focus on delivering the best service to their clients, providing responsible stewardship for their long-term savings and investments. We also lead the debate on policy and regulatory recommendations to ensure that the UK remains a global centre of excellence in the investment management and financial advice.

We run regular educational CPD seminars, round table discussions, committees and working parties. In addition, we also run Learning and Development Programmes (webinar, podcast, training, etc).
We publish a fortnightly newsletter, a detailed monthly update and a quarterly magazine. We engage in regular in person briefings of our members throughout the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Ireland about policy, including on EU matters that affect them.

    Other activities

PIMFA exists to support its members and their clients through education and engagement, advocacy and influence, research and analysis and by playing an active role as a facilitator and thought leader.

Through these objectives we aim to ensure that legislative and regulatory changes, including operational, regulatory and tax, across Europe and the rest of the world are appropriate for the range of different firms offering wealth management services, and their underlying clients.

This involves ensuring that policy clearly differentiates between the different business models operated in the financial services sector, and the risks they raise both for their retail clients and wider society.
