    Sussex is a leading research-intensive university. It has a dynamic and thriving research culture with strengths across the sciences/arts/social sciences and medicine with a focus on interdisciplinary
    research. The 2021 REF demonstrated that 89% of the research categorised as world-leading or intl excellent 48%. 93% of our research impact was assessed to be outstanding or very considerable.
    It has an excellent international reputation and is ranked in the top 50 UK universities as demonstrated by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024 where we placed joint 26th out of 104 UK institutions. The
    QS World Rankings by Subject rated Sussex number one in the world for Development Studies and rated high for research output.
    Other stats 3,120 staff, 18,089 FTE studnets. It has had 5 Nobel Prize winners and had 12 Fellows of the British Academy and a winner of the prestigious Crafoord Prize on our
    staff.
