Goals / Remit
Climate Alliance is a non-profit association uniting local authorities and indigenous rainforest peoples in their efforts to mitigate climate change. Climate Alliance currently counts some 1700 member cities, municipalities and regions in 24 European countries. Its activities are coordinated by the European Secretariat based in Frankfurt (DE) and its Brussels Office (BE).
Climate Alliance supports its members in achieving their voluntary commitments of reducing CO₂ emissions by ten percent every five years and to halving per capita emissions by 2030 (base year 1990). Since 2007 the Brussels Office has advocated for improved legal framework for local authorities and for recognising their role in the European climate and energy policy, as well as for funding opportunities for local authorities for implementing their climate actions. Climate Alliance also coordinates together with other European city networks the Covenant of Mayors initiativeMain EU files targeted

The Brussels Office represents Climate Alliance and its members towards the EU institutions with a strong belief that local authorities are key actors in shaping climate and energy policies and in building a sustainable energy future for Europe.
We participate in relevant consultation processes and publish position papers and policy recommendations. Climate Alliance also cooperates with other relevant local authority networks. Climate Alliance has a formal cooperation agreement with the European Committee of the Regions- Meetings

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.
1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
