Goals / Remit
Euclid Network is the European network of civil society professionals
Established in 2007 as a joint venture between ACEVO (UK), CJDES (France) and Ideell Arena (Sweden), Euclid Network connects 300 members from 31 countries from across Europe for a more innovative, professional and sustainable European civil society.
Our vision
Innovative and connected civil society at the forefront of European development locally and globally
Civil society includes every third sector organization and social economy enterprise with a public benefit mission. By Europe we mean the country members of the EU, Council of Europe, Union for the Mediterranean and Belarus.
Our mission
To empower members to be civil society change makers (i.e. the Avante-garde) across borders and boundaries
Unique marks:
•Individual members (not organisations)
•Focus on the whole civil society/social economy (not a specific issue)
•Focus on the whole Europe and beyond (not Brussels only)
What we do
Euclid Network focuses on four key programme areas which represent challenges for every civil society professional.
Effectiveness
For civil society to be more effective, Euclid Network uses peer-learning to develop leadership and innovation across the sector. We also work on knowledge-sharing in areas such as impact and governance.
Sustainability
The sector needs to be run and funded sustainably if it is to have any long-term impact. Euclid Network supports our members in sourcing new income, either through new and innovative projects or accessing vital European funds.
Innovation
New solutions to some of Europe's most pressing problems will come from social innovation: innovation within and driven by civil society. Euclid Network works to both develop a culture of innovation within the sector, and to ensure that it is at the heart of the European project.
Influence
Civil society is no longer a marginal sector. Rather, it is a source of growth, wealth and employment. By using our connections the wider network we aim to give the sector a greater voice both within the policy making processes and in the media.
Within these four programme areas, Euclid Network runs specific projects to strengthen and empower civil society. These projects often take place in specific regions across Europe and are crucial to Euclid Network's regional strategy; tailoring the network to the specific needs of civil societyin six core regions:
•Western Europe
•Central and Eastern Europe
•Northern Europe
•Western Balkans
•Former Soviet Union
•Mediterranean
How we are funded
Euclid Network receives a core grant from the European Commission, DG Education and Culture. We are also funded to run specifc projects by the European Commission and the United Nations. Funding also comes from membership fees, partnerships, training and consultancy that Euclid Network offers.Main EU files targeted
