    Slow Food is a global movement acting together to ensure good, clean and fair food for all.
    GOOD

    We cultivate a worldwide network of local communities and activists who defend cultural and biological diversity, promote food education as well as the transfer of traditional knowledge and skills, and influence policies in public and private sectors.

    Main EU files targeted

    At EU level, we liaise with the European institutions and collaborate with partner organisations to promote our common vision, influence food policies in the European Union, seeking to change the current food and farming systems. We translate the grassroots experience of our network into policy recommendations and bring to the European level issues that are dealt with at national level.

    Specifically in 2023, our advocacy work focuses on: Biodiversity Strategy, Farm to Fork Strategy and its flagships initiatives, in particular the proposal for a legislative framework for sustainable food systems (FSFS) (including food environments, food labelling and public procurement); the revision of the Animal welfare legislation and the Sustainable Use of Pesticides Regulation; Climate Change (including the protein strategy, CRCF, and food waste); GMOs and new GMOs; Common Agricultural Policy; Soil Health Law; Urban food policies; influencing the 2024 EU elections.

    Other activities

    Since it was founded more than 20 years ago, Slow Food has defended small-scale traditional food producers and raised awareness among consumers at the grassroots level. Its aim is to create a more sustainable food system, based on the pleasure and sharing of good, clean and fair food.
    At EU level, we work to help improve policies so as to address the challenges and opportunities of the European food systems, including issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss and our impact on third countries.
