    Goals / Remit

The European Public Health Alliance (EPHA) is an international non-profit association (association international sans but lucratif, AISBL), registered in Belgium, which advocates for better health in Europe. Its membership comprises not-for-profit organisations working on public health.

EPHA's mission is to bring together the public health community to provide thought leadership and drive change; to build public health capacity to deliver equitable solutions to European public health challenges, and to improve health and reduce health inequities.

EPHA's vision is of a Europe with universal good health and well-being, where all have access to a sustainable and high-quality health system: A Europe whose policies and practices contribute to health, within and beyond its borders.

EPHA does not receive (financial) resources from any commercial actor, including companies, trade associations, etc.

EPHA is committed to full transparency on its funding, governance, and operations.

    Main EU files targeted

EPHA's advocacy for better health in Europe targets policies that impact people's opportunities to be in good health and feel well, and policies that influence people's exposure to risk factors that impact health negatively. These are the policies that shape the environment in which people are born, grow up, live, work, and age. In public health, these factors are referred to as the social, environmental, commercial, digital, and political determinants of health. EPHA believes that to truly improve public health, the EU must adopt and commit to a health-in-all-policies approach. As such, EPHA targets policies across all of these determinants, organised in EPHA's seven Policy Clusters.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
