Goals / Remit
APREN is considered a valuable partner to help establishing faster procedures for the licensing of new renewable energy power plants, and improve legislation related with the sector. The Association gathers the interests of a vast majority of the portuguese independent producers of renewable electricity and acts as their speaker with the relevant national authorities.
Main EU files targeted
APREN provides varied information about renewable energy and is very active within the European framework, conducting national studies, participating in European projects financed by IEE and conducting workshops and conferences dedicated to themes important to renewable energy producers, such as energy policy, energy security strategy, energy efficiency, grid interconnection and technology and innovation.

Communication activities
Annually APREN conducts an international conference dedicated to relevant issues for the renewable energy sector. In 2015 was dedicated to the Future of Energy.
APREN has also a strong involvement at European level, manifested primarily through the participation in European projects and through its partnership with several European Associations that defend the technologies that APREN represents, which enable the monitoring of European Energy Policy and developments in the sector in other Member States of the European Union.
APREN participation in the associative international activities is mainly reached through the following Associations: EREF – European Renewable Energy Federation (in which APREN has the vice presidency), EWEA – European Wind Energy Association, Solar Power Europe and AEBIOM – “European Biomass Association”
Besides, APREN collaborates in European Projects being currently a member at Keep-on-Track and EnergyzAir European Projects.Other activities
APREN has a website (www.apren.pt) that is daily updated with news and communications about the Association activities and data concerning the renewable energy sector.
Monthly APREN president issue a “Speech” in the website and monthly is published an opinion article in the magazine “Indústria e Ambiente”.
Every year APREN organizes an Annual Conference with great impact in the Portuguese Energy Sector to which some Opinion Makers, national or international, are invited.
Also APREN published an Annual Statistic concerning all the Associates Power Plants characteristics and production as well global statistics and performance of the Portuguese Renewable Sector.- Meetings
