    Goals / Remit

    Snam is Europe’s leading operator in natural gas transport and storage, with an infrastructure enabling the energy transition. It ranks among the top ten Italian listed companies by market capitalization. Snam operates a pipeline network of approximately 41,000 km spanning from Italy, Austria, France, Greece and the United Kingdom and the company manages 3.5% of the world’s gas storage capacity. It is also one of the main operators in LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) regasification. With its 80 years of experience, Snam guarantees security of supply and promotes theenergy transition across territories, through investments in green gases (biomethane, hydrogen) and energy efficiency.
    Snam has set itself a net zero target on Scope 1 and 2 CO2 equivalent emissions by 2040 as well as a target for indirect Scope 3 (subsidiaries, suppliers) emissions reduction by 2030.
    Since 2001, Snam is a public company, listed in the FTSE MIB index of the Italian Stock Exchange.

    Snam is interested in following all the EU initiatives related to renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean mobility, sustainable finance, the recast of the gas market design legislation, including the definition of an hydrogen market. Snam also follows all the EU initiatives that promotes the EU Green Deal and the energy and climate long-term transition with a vision towards 2030 - 2050, with a focus on energy security (supply and infrastructures).

    Other financial info

    Since 2018, Snam has been monitoring with interest European public funding opportunities, related to the different programmes. In particular: Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), Horizon Europe, Innovation fund. Below are the most relevant Snam projects, in terms of economic materiality, which during the 2018 - 2022 period have been selected and have, in part, received funding consistent with the progress of project activities.


    -"Snam4Mobility - Retail LNG development". Funding programme: CEF-T-2017-Blending-2. The grant for the action amounts of 1.3 million euro to build 9 L-CNG stations located on EU TEN-T Corridors. So far Snam has requested: a reimbursement of 234.000 euro related to activities carried out in the period 2020 - 2021; a pre-financing of 183.834 euro and an interim payment of 355.489,39 € for the 2022. //


    -"THOTH2"whtihin the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, the consortium focuses on energy measurement value chain and instruments’ ability to accurately measure physical parameters of H2NG mixtures with increasing H2 percentages, up to 100%. //


    -“H2 Valcamonica”. Funding programme: InnovFund-SSC-2020-single-stage. The grant for the actions amounts of 2.8 million euro , and the the project objectives will be achieved through the implementation of an electrolyser (PEM) directly supplied by the waste-to-energy power plant of Brescia with green electricity, allowing the hydrogen produced to be considered as renewable or green hydrogen. //

    -“OLGA”. Funding programme: H2020-LC-GD-2020. The grant for the actions amounts of 1.1 million euro. The project aims at demonstrating the decarbonization of airports through renewable energy sources and green hydrogen.
